All workers were evacuated from Anglo’s Grosvenor mine this morning after an ignition event caused an underground fire, the Mining and Energy Union said today.
MEU Queensland President Mitch Hughes said that all workers were safe and accounted for after the event which started in the early morning around 6am.
“We are greatly relieved that workers are safe and there were no injuries or fatalities,” said Mr Hughes.
“Of course it’s of great concern that this event has occurred. MEU ISHRs are on their way to the site and will conduct their own independent investigations into what has happened.”
