The Mineworkers Trust is once again investing in the future of mining and energy families, with applications now open for the 2026 Scholarship Awards.
Each year, the Trust disburses millions of dollars to support vital services and organisations in mining communities – including education support for the next generation. Over the years, hundreds of young people from mining and energy families have been given the opportunity to pursue their dreams at universities and higher education institutions through these scholarships.
In 2026, the Mineworkers Trust will provide 20 scholarships valued at $7,000 each to Mining and Energy Union (MEU) members or their dependents undertaking further study.
Eligibility
You are eligible to apply if:
- You are an MEU mining or energy worker, or a family member or dependent of one; and
- You are undertaking or applying to undertake a Diploma-level or higher course at a TAFE or public university in 2026.
Assessment Criteria
Applications will be assessed on several factors, including:
- The likelihood of the applicant completing their course;
- The applicant’s financial situation;
- The benefits the study will bring to mining and energy workers or their communities; and
- The applicant’s academic record.
