About Us:

The Mining and Energy Union (MEU) represents workers in coal mines, electrical generation, and coal ports. We advocate for our members and empower workers in these industries to be part of the principal Union that represents coal, power, and port workers.

The Role:

We’re seeking a motivated Growth & Campaigning Organiser for our Northern District team in NSW, based in our Cessnock Office in the (Hunter Valley). This full-time role involves working in team and supporting union campaigns, engaging with workers, and advocating for their workplace rights. Applicants must reside locally.

Key Duties:

  • Lead and review targeted organising campaigns.
  • Recruit new members and build networks within workplaces.
  • Empower workers through education and communication.
  • Develop strategies to resolve workplace issues.
  • Support the Union’s objectives and obligations to its members.

About you:

  • Strong team player with a passion for empowering workers.
  • Experience in union organising and campaign planning.
  • Strong communication skills (listening, verbal, and interpersonal).
  • Comfortable with technology and social media platforms.
  • National Police Check and driver’s license required.

Desired Experience:

  • ACTU training or union organising experience preffered.
  • Previous experience in industrial relations or union advocacy is a plus.
