Job opportunity: Campaign and Growth organiser for the Pilbara

The Western Mine Workers Alliance (WMWA) is seeking an experienced FIFO campaign and growth organiser to work in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia.

The Western Mine Workers Alliance (WMWA) is a ground breaking initiative established in 2013, that is driven by the Australian Workers’ Union, and the Construction, Forestry, Mining, Maritime and Energy Union. The WMWA campaigns to improve the working lives of our members in targeted Western Australian Iron Ore operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

You will participate in planning, implementing and reviewing targeted organising campaigns. Duties will include, engaging with workers and recruiting new members, assessing targets, setting up campaigns, developing organising committees, resolving workplace safety and industrial issues and visiting sites where members and potential members are employed.

SELECTION CRITERIA

You will be self-motivated with demonstrated trade union values and experience including a proven record of educating and developing workplace leaders, possess good communication skills, be able to successfully resolve workplace issues and have  computer literacy.

This is a Perth based Fly in Fly Out, full-time position, working in the Eastern Pilbara region of Western Australia.

Accommodation is supplied along with work vehicle, mobile phone and laptop computer. Opportunities to live locally may be available to suitable applicants.

A generous salary package will be available in the range of $110,000 – $115,000 plus super. Details will be discussed during the recruitment process.
