Last Monday, the MEU attended a conference hearing in the Fair Work Commission regarding the production pause at Liberty Bell Bay.
The outcome of this hearing is that Liberty has committed to restarting operations and retaining all staff on 13 July, contingent on the acquisition of and payment for an ore shipment.
Additionally, Liberty have committed to greater transparency and communication with employees regarding the financing and acquisition of the shipment, as well as projected restarting of operations. You should have received the first of these communications earlier this week.
The Mining and Energy Union remains committed to defending your entitlements. We are continuing to work with the other unions on site as well as Liberty to ensure your rights and entitlements are respected.
