The Mineworkers Trust disburses millions of dollars to support vital services and organisations in mining communities. The scholarships have helped put hundreds of young students from mining and energy families through Universities and other Higher Education institutions over the years.
Applications for the 2026 Scholarship Awards are open now and close 6th February 2026.
In 2026, The Mineworkers Trust will again provide $7000 scholarships to 20 MEU members or their dependents, to undertake further study.
You are eligible to apply if you are:
- a MEU mining or energy worker, family member or dependent
- you are undertaking or applying to undertake a course at Diploma Level or higher at TAFE or a public university in 2024
The criteria for assessing applications include (but are not limited to):
- The likelihood of the applicant completing the course;
- The financial situation of the applicant
- The benefits derived by mining & energy workers and/or their communities by the completion of the course
- The academic record of the applicant
Applications must be received by the Mining and Energy Union National Office no later than Friday 6th February 2026.

- The MEU membership number of yourself or your family member.
- Date you completed your highest level of studies
- Details of your proposed studies
