The Western Mine Workers Alliance (WMWA) is a well-established organisation supported by Australia’s two biggest mining Unions, the Australian Workers’ Union (AWU), and the Mining and Energy Union (MEU). The WMWA leads the way fighting for workers’ safety, wages and conditions and respect at work. We cover workers throughout Western Australia’s Pilbara Mining Operations.
About the role
We are expanding our team and venturing into new areas oHering an opportunity to be part of a highly motivated and professional team and will be supported by and report to our Pilbara based Lead Organiser. You will find yourself working across the Pilbara mining, port operations and other associated areas. Your work will cover the Pilbara mining sector, port operations, and related industries. The WMWA will provide accommodation, with both residential and FIFO options available and discussed during the interview process.
You will play an integral role in planning, implementing, and reviewing strategic organising campaigns. Key responsibilities will include engaging current members, recruiting new members, assessing campaign targets, setting up organising committees, addressing workplace safety concerns, resolving industrial issues, and conducting site visits to areas where members and potential members are employed.

Key Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, you will be self-motivated and demonstrate strong trade union values and experience, with a proven track record of recruiting workers into the union. You will have experience in developing workplace leaders, excellent communication skills, and a high level of computer literacy. A solid understanding of Australian Workplace Relations and some knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation is essential.
You will be required to supply a Police Check and have a current driver’s licence.
